Boxer Hamzah Ajahmi made his professional debut on Saturday December 19 against Anthony Taylor, another boxer making his professional debut, in a four round flyweight bout.
Ajahmi collapsed after the final round of the bout after sustaining multiple punches thrown by Taylor and was taken out of the ring in a stretcher. He was then transferred to St. Elizabeth Health Center, where he had emergency brain surgery. Unfortunately, Ajahmi would die from complications sustained in the bout three days later.
Ajahmi was knocked down three times in the opening round of the fight, but rallied to win rounds two and three according to judges scorecards. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family, friends and fans of Ajahmi.
